My flatmates and the lizard

This is my flat before my flatmate discovered a lizard.

This is my flat after the lizard was discovered.

This is how we (or more so, I) catch lizards and other insects that can fit under my dinner. (for the peace of my flat)

This is the lizard that terrorised 2 of my flatmates for 2 hours.

How anyone be so terrified of lizards, i dont know. Lizards and I live together in peace as long as they dont shit on my homework and/or jump all over me.

Christmas

"Christmas is about Santa"... That's what commercialism has done.

Everyone knows Santa doesn't exist (even as a child I knew Santa doesn't exist.. it just didnt make sense y'know?). Yet they all celebrate Santa-ism every Christmas.

Every year, Christmas comes, all the Christmas decorations come out, and so does Santa without fail. Isn't this lie getting too boring already?

All those shopping mall Santas are REALLY lame! Children all know those Santas are fake. They even scheme on pulling Santa's beard if given the opportunity to get close to him. It also doesnt help that the costumes suck!

Even more sickening are those Santa shows/movies on TV. OMG! Christmas is doomed if Santa's son doesn't take over his father's role? Come on! And as if that isn't stupid enough, there's PLENTY of those movies made with VERY MINOR variations. How many times can one watch variations of a storyline that's not only cliche but stupid also?

Then there's that part where little children gotta be good or you wont get any present from Santa? Blah! U wont get presents from Santa whether u're good or bad anyway.

There's also this joke where ppl try to make a serious Christmas movie about the origins of Christmas. Bleh! It turns out to be some fictitious story about how Santa Claus came about.

Dont be the stupid one to celebrate Santa-ism. Not only is it unbelievable, it IS untrue.

I'm not gonna give u readers some holy-moly preaching. Just saying, plain out, what Christmas really is... Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. To put it super briefly, that's the guy Christians believe to be the Saviour of our souls.

So, Christmas is pretty much a person's birthday. A pretty great birthday too from a Christian and non-Christian's point of view. We're just lucky we get lots of parties to enjoy ourselves at, loads of great food, beautiful decorations at shopping malls to take pictures at, superb sales and great bargains everywhere, and WE get presents instead of the birthday boy.

U love Christmas? Thank Jesus. Not Santa.

YLDP: “Audrey almost died”

Yeah, what Dr. Sam said- “Audrey Kwong almost died”- is true. Not so close to death that I got fatally injured, cut open, and sent to the ICU to recuperate or something, but just that I almost got into a car accident.

It was during treasure hunt. My group and I were walking downhill on the road by the playground in Frasers. Many others were around me as there was about 2-3 other groups there too. I was walking about 2 meters ahead of those in my group as we were walked single file down the right side of the road. I knew there was a car coming from behind, and I could see another car on my side of the road coming uphill. It was all very safe and very normal. We were all safely as far to the side as we possibly could without walking in the drain. The cars should be able to drive on without any problem.

Suddenly, many things seem to have happened at the same time. My slow brain couldn’t process so many things at the same time. That stupid car (I’m calling the car coming uphill ‘the stupid car’) swerved towards me and seemed to have sped up at the same time. My group members and some others behind me started shouting… something… I only remember hearing “Audrey! Audrey!” and everything else was a blur. My mind couldn’t quite register that the car had swerved and was coming up towards me fast cos it was just slow and safe a few seconds before.

By the time I realized it, I guess I would’ve been waking up in heaven or in an ICU if the car hadn’t made an emergency stop.

I was in a daze. My mind was a blank. The car drove away and I still was in a daze. I cant even remember what exactly happened after that close shave. I knew Andrea and Evelyn were among the shouters close behind me. They had to ask me if I was alright and tell me what happened cos I just didn’t quite know what happened.

It was awhile before the incident started sinking in. Poor Andrea seemed to have gotten a greater scare than me at first. Later when my slow mind registered what happened only did I feel the full extent of that scare. Running through my mind was replays of the stupid car swerving and speeding up towards me while I was being a slow idiot, not reacting to anything. I was much more scared then I let on then.

Getting into an accident smack right in the middle of YLDP, away from the campsite, in Frasers hill, with the weather being so cold, and my parents away… definitely not an ideal place and time to get injured or to die. I guess dying wouldn’t be too bad for me- no suffering; but definitely troublesome for the facilitators. Also, probably much more shocking and traumatic for my friends to witness my death compared to me getting injured. Getting injured in Frasers would totally suck considering the nearest hospital’s a few hours away and I’ll have to go through winding roads that’ll make me sick.

At the end of the day, we were asked to ponder over two questions while taking into account the events of the day. What are you most grateful for? And what are you least grateful for?

Obviously, I was most grateful for my life, and for not getting injured. As for what I’m least grateful for? I couldn’t think of any. Han Yuan suggested the lousy driver. I did consider it, but that was not it. I am actually quite grateful to the driver. Grateful that he did make the emergency stop and didn’t bang into me. And from that incident, I leant to appreciate life better. Also, it served as a reminder that life can just end anytime, anywhere.

An update

Hey ppl.. it’s been ages since I’ve blogged. So sorry to those who constantly come by my blog only to see I haven’t updated anything every time. Lately, I’ve been feeling very private. Not quite willing to post my thoughts or info bout my doings for the world to see. Not to forget, been lazy.

I’ve been so out of touch with so many. I realized that when one of my church friends who I was close to went, “So, how’s A Levels?” I was stunned for awhile. But I can’t blame him. We didn’t talk much for some time and I never told him bout my life.

I’ve long finished A Levels. Ended on the 19th of June.

Went to Pulau Redang with MCKL friends (I blogged about it).

Wasted away and collected dust for 2 plus months

Except for the time I worked for Smart Reg for 2 events (Cosmobeaute in PWTC and Pecipta in KLCC)

And joined the stage crew of my church’s musical production, The Dreamer. I never knew being part of the stage crew was so challenging till this time. We either gotta have night vision or the gift of being able to walk around it pitch blackness without knocking over anything.

And played the keyboard for Passion Youth at the One Rock concert at The Mines.

The initial plan was for me to do a twinning program with an Australian university. So I was supposed to be super free till Feb next year. But I suddenly started my degree course, which is BA (Hons) Finance, Accounting and Management, in Nottingham Malaysia (don’t ask why unless u really wanna know. Long story). I should be stuck here for 3 years unless I take up their mobility program.

Nottingham is in Semenyih. Where’s that? Haha! I don’t expect you to know. It’s somewhere between Kajang and Seremban. I stay on campus and go home to KL on weekends.

This is all for now. I'll update properly another time. I'm REALLY just too lazy to blog and the difficult access to internet here just makes the blogging process just too long and tedious.

Btw, I don’t Friendster much now. I’ve got Facebook. But I don’t go there much either. U can search for me on Facebook under Audrey Kwong.

27 July 2007

My bunch of whacko school friends just randomly met up for no reason. While we were randomly sitting around randomly minding our own business, Gan Fiona randomly starts recording a video using her camera seated on a tripod.

And suddenly, very unexpected behaviour appears and Gan Fiona and me randomly clown around in front of the camera. Enjoy!

~First of all, most of the credit of this entry goes to Gan Fiona. It's her pictures, her photo hosting, her entry etc.

August 4th '07

Today was AMAZINGGGGG!!! Gan Fiona, Moahan, Reuben, LimCY & I climbed up Bukit Tabur!!! The bukit that every Melawatian is talking about (sort of...)... Cant believe it took me so long to discover that place. Anyway, we met at my house supposedly at 7am. We were late as usual, so we only started climbing at almost 8am after getting some food on the way there.

This pic below here was taken at the first 'pit stop'. Man! That was TORTURE!!! I didnt realise how totally unfit i was till i went through that first part of the journey! I so wanted to turn round and go back. But i figured i may as well finish it since i was there (I wanted my bragging rights =P). Also, i didnt think the rest of the journey would b long (i was so totally wrong =.=')

Oh, u c my VERY forced smile? It was only for the camera.

Up here, is me, Gan n Moahan. Time: 8.05am (according to Gan)

View from up where we were. I had no idea there was like some big lake up in the mountains! N i lived in Melawati all my life!

One monkey right on top. One gila monkey lower down.

Gan.. makan makan makan aje.. Ah, u c how high we were? Higher than the other hills/mountains!

Gan fascinated with the rocks. She says: "I've never been so close to rocks before... Especially when panjating on them... I was literally kissing the rocks. Well... Either that or have a nice time falling lah! X)"

Gan posing

Ants. Gan's friends. We kill it, she'll kill us.. so she says.

Sadly, there wasn't any clouds. TTT.TTT

A big rock... Umm... Yeah... XD. Thx for snapping, Reuben.

We found our ex Primary & Secondary school from up there...

All group pics are self-timed photos with Gan's camera helplessly balancing on the rocks... Fuh! We look like we're at the edge! Well, yeah, actually we were. But it didnt seem as dangerous up there as in the pic

Legs & Shoes... The legless shoe is Lim's. Haha!

Moahan's and Gan's legs. They were REALLY hanging off a cliff!

One push and dooooowwnnnnnn they go. It was a CLIFF! and a LONG way down!

This is the part i almost fell off =.=' High, steep, sharp and dangerous! i got a bruise measuing 7cm x 4 n half cm from that.

Halfway to the top...

Nice view.. spoilt my Gan's shoes =P

Gan relaxing while LimCY suffered.

After jalaning for awhile... We found cempedaks!

Two lonely durians...

It was an interesting experience. I've got my bragging rights! YEAH!!! I've been up n down Bukit Tabur!!! But as to whether i wanna go again.. Uh.. let me think awhile ahh.. it was torture man.. Mayb one day when im more fit n less accident prone =P

New dog: Patch

This is my new dog, Patch. You can see why it's named that. My parents got him from SPCA on the 16th of Feb. He's a labrador mix.

Totally cute! Even sticking out its tongue! It's hiding under a bunch after running away with the washing sponge.

A nice shot of it in the position my mom likes best. You see the patch on its head is fading already. This pic was taken 18 days after it was adopted.

Patch's little 'house' (which he has long ago chewed up)

Patch and his new toy that's bigger than him.

He's gonna pounce on it!!! (Too bad it didnt burst)

Tickles!

RUNNN!!! (Patch escaping with my slipper/sandal)

Uh oh.. How do I cross this river of stones? Cornered!

Mine! All mine!!! (Patch with my brother's slipper. Its' barely bigger than the slipper!)

Stuck on a bench

Possibly stolen econs book

OK, I am already DAMN pissed! N m holding back a LOT of descriptive n not necessarily pleasant language.

SOMEONE STOLE/(ACCIDENTALLY)TOOK MY ORIGINAL JOHN SLOMAN ECONS BOOK!!!

What the hell weh! And till now i still havent heard anything bout it!

I went to college last wednesday (4 July) to sell off my books and past year papers. I left my stuff on the shelf outside the library at 10.30, then returned to college later at 4.30. I had
a glance of my stuff b4 i went finding for Phoebe at L2.2. I THINK my econs book was still there. When i went back to the library, it was GONE!

The WHOLE time i was in MCKL, everyone leaves books there without anything getting stolen, so dont say i was careless. After this incident, m i wrong to say there are THIEVES IN MCKL?!

Perhaps there was a mistake. I saw there was another identical book (but in worse condition than mine) on the shelves too looking quite abandoned. Possibly, someone accidentally took mine instead of his/her own. Mayb he/she purposely switched it (if so, it's theft! I took law).

My book is blue in colour, thick (like all econs books), ORIGINAL, wrapped, and has a price tag at the back saying Kinokuniya, RM 90.95. It is in VERY good condition. Looks almost brand new! My name might not be in the book. I might've wrote it in pencil last time, but rubbed it off since i was gonna sell it.

Pls, I want my book back. I discovered i might need it for my degree after all. I dont care if u intentionally or unintentionally took my book. Just give it back to me.

Pls contact me via friendster or e-mail (audreykmy@gmail.com) or msn (ming_sdn_bhd@hotmail.com) or phone if u manage to get it from someone (dont wanna post it up here). Anyone else who sees it, pls tell me.

Colourful bruise

A bruise I got earlier this year. Cant quite remember from where. A table in college I think.

The ruler's to show how big it is.

See? So colourful! =P
